Welcome to the Palouse Blog

This blog is a forum for residents, former residents, and prospective new residents of the town of Palouse, Washington to share their thoughts and stories about Palouse.

This is not the place to find current news about Palouse. We recommend that you subscribe to, "The Boomerang," newspaper to find current news. But, if you are a resident, business owner, or prospective new-comer to the town, we invite you to submit your stories, thoughts, concerns, suggestions, photos and/or drawings to share with others who may have a similar interest. Send what you want to appear as a new post, including any attachments to: will@murrayco.com

Your post will appear here within 24 hours. And, of course, anyone can immediately post their comments regarding your post.

I am the moderator of this blog, and as such I reserve the right to edit out any obscene, or otherwise offensive material that would be unacceptable for journalistic print. No doubt, there will be posts and/or comments that are controversial. But, gentlemen can agree to disagree.

The topic of your post is wide open, and up to you. If you want to plug your business... fine! Just keep it decent and fit to print.

The purpose of this blog is to inform and expand upon issues relevant to the town of Palouse. And, to perhaps garner new and/or creative ideas and suggestions that would enhance the City of Palouse.

I hope to hear from you...

Hi Will,
I'm a visitor to your blog and not a resident of Palouse, but I had to compliment your beautiful pictures; you've done your town justice. Looks like a great place to live.
I've been looking for historical data on weather and thought a resident would be better to ask. How cold, how hot, snow, rain?
thnx..mp

Palouse climate is rather mild. Perhaps a few days in the Summer near 100F and a few days in the Winter near Zero F, but mostly very cool in Summer and mild Winters. The Palouse country is around 2,000 ft. elevation with none of the high humidity you find in the East, South and Midwest.
About 15 inches of rain per year. With Four very distinct seasons.

This area is on the Western edge of the Rocky Mountains. Thus, no fog and rain like you see on the coast, and no big cold fronts that sweep down from Canada in the central part of the country.

I love "the" Palouse and have visited your great little town many times. (We especially like the second hand shop!) My wife and I are originally from New England where quaint, villages are the norm. Palouse and maybe Tekoa are as close to that kind of small town atmosphere that I have found in this entire region. Distint "alive" downtowns and nice park facilities.

My goal is to retire to such a place as Palouse when all is said and done. We currently live in Hayden, Idaho which is just north of Coeur d'Alene. Certainly a beautiful place, but now over grown and full of congestion.

I am a quasi-professional photographer and many of my photos are of the Palouse. I plan on getting down your way very shortly for some early Spring shots.

Here is a link to some of my photos:

Good luck with your blog and for goodness sake, continue to relish your great little town and protect it from change!

Cheers,

Doug
